Pickle and Pearl find themselves flying over a Roman Amphitheatre. Not any old Roman Amphitheatre. mind you, but one in Pula in Croatia in (what was once) the Roman province of Istria and thus Dalmatia was founded, so called after a spotted dog which was founded walking among the ruins of the Roman Amphitheatre, which, incidentally, is the best preserved Roman Amphitheatre in all of Romany. The dog, known and loved by firemen the world over was known as a Damnation but later became a Dalm instead of a Damn. If you know what I am talking about you are a better man than I am, G.D.
