Pickle and Pearl

A very enjoyable, entertaining selection of the adventures of two onions! Our thanks go out to Walter, who has graciously volunteered to keep us up to date on these two. On this blog, the most recent post is at the top!

Presumably Dr. Livingstone.

Henry Morton Stanley, a reporter on a New York newspaper was certain that Dr. Livingstone, a missionary, explorer and all round good fellow had found the source of the Nile river and could be found. Now Africa is a big country to get lost in but you know what happened. Mr. Stanley (as portrayed by Spencer Tracy so you knew he had to find Dr.Livingstone) uttered these well known words "Dr. Livingstone, I presume". Unfortunately we are not told whether Stanley meant "I presume you are Dr. Livingstone (he being the only white man in the vicinity) or was his meaning Dr. Livingstone? I hope I don't presume on your solitude and your wish to be alone". That being well, the authorities erected a statue to Dr. Livingstone near Victoria Falls which he named after his Queen. This is the statue that Pickle and Pearl have taken in as one of the sights on their current trip to foreigh parts.
