Confrontation!
In the last issue, the confrontation of the two rival factions raised fears that a 'turf war' was about to break out on that 'hallowed ground'. However, because the A's and V's are not by nature violent they have a time-honoured way of settling disputes. Consequently a site was found in front of the National Gallery in London which suited their purpose.
This picture shows how their disagreements are resolved. They compete by playing a live game of their version of draughts (checkers) on a draughts board (checker board) with themselves as draughtsmen (checkers) until only one (the winner) is left in charge of the board. Because every game has ended in a draw (tie) they usually rub feelers and honour is satisfied after which they cooperate. What a waste of time!
