Pickle and Pearl

A very enjoyable, entertaining selection of the adventures of two onions! Our thanks go out to Walter, who has graciously volunteered to keep us up to date on these two. On this blog, the most recent post is at the top!

Scots, wha hae ..

"Ye banks and braes o' bonnie Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary fu' o' care?.....
As Thursday was the anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns of Scotland in 1759, the 'guide' wanted to involve Pickle and Pearl in the yearly ritual of "Rabbie Burns Night". The 'guide' and his late wife, Annie from Glasgow, often attended one of these functions but I never saw them set fire to the 'Rabbie', however, the 'Toast to the Haggis' was a good substitute and the 'guide' (me) enjoyed a liberal scoop of the "Chieftain of the Puddin' Race" even though I am a Yorkshireman. The picture, although taken a couple of years ago, symbolizes (nostalgically) the ancient, loving feeling.
