Winterlude again
Pickle wanted to see more of Ottawa's Winterlude for his research into the doings of Earth people so I (the 'guide') took him and Pearl to Ralph Park Street Park in Stittsville to see what the villagers were up to. What we found was two teams from the local Volunteer Fire Department slugging it out on the ice in a spirited game of Broomball. It was fun for all concerned. The bit of left over snow on the ice rink was mainly dispersed and left bare patches on the ice, and as the players were not wearing cleats there was sliding and falling down. The game was very democratic and if someone felt a bit tired they came off for a rest and someone else would run on and take his or her place. Yes, the teams were mixed and some goals were scored but I don't think there was a scorekeeper so it didn't matter. It was all in fun.
