Festa Portugal

On the way back north from Italy Pickle and Pearl stopped off in Portugal and so they found themselves (not that they had lost themselves) in Vila Franca de Xira. The town has a reputation for running the bulls, the same like wot is done in Pamplona, Spain on days when there is nothing else to do. This is usually part of a festival where, among other things, sardines are grilled on the street, (I'm not making this up!). It is part of Pickle's fact-finding mission to relay back to Ascalonia. He can now report that in France they fight monkeys, in Spain they fight bulls and in Portugal the bulls chase people. Where are soldiers and defenses?
